Sr Software Test Technician

In this role

This role will perform technical activities leading to new or improved products or processes that have significant impact on the company.  The  Sr Software Test Technician is responsible for independently assuring high quality testing of our 3D printer software, including operating 3D printers, performing testing, researching new testing tools, training other members of our team, participating in an Agile scrum team, troubleshooting software issues and 3D printer issues, and creating and maintaining test cases and automation code. The Senior Software Test Technician is an expert in at least one area of software testing.

What you will be doing:

Performs testing to assure that products meet their specifications and will perform successfully in the field.

• Efficiently executes software tests (both manual and automated) to assess performance of 3D printers. Prioritizes testing to meet the needs of the team and based on risk.
• Creates and verifies Jira tickets. Reproduces and troubleshoots quality issues.
• Updates existing test cases and creates new test cases.
• Proactively and quickly resolves issues that occur during testing. Troubleshoots and repairs 3D printer issues.
• Provides daily status updates on testing completion and pass/fail status.
• Trains other Test Technicians to complete testing. Openly shares their knowledge with other Test Technicians.
• Multitasks and keeps multiple projects going simultaneously.
• Assures on-time completion of testing.

• Acts as a subject matter expert in at least one software test area. 

Drives improvements in testing

• Creates automation to improve code quality and application performance. Independently drives improvement in our automation tools and processes.
• Creates and updates test cases to improve testing.
• Research new software, tools, and equipment to improve how we do software testing.   

Provide high quality, clear documentation and communicates effectively.

•           Proactively communicates with stakeholders, including status, issues, and schedule.

•           Writes clear test cases to document how testing is performed.

•           Writes clear, concise test reports that document test results. Organizes test reports and data for easy retrieval.

•           Consistently follows procedures for documentation and document storage and assures that all testing and documentation meet ISO requirements.

Collaborates and works cross functionally with team members.

• Effectively works as a member of an Agile Scrum team.
• -Anticipates and meets needs of the project team.
• Proactively communicates schedule and status.
• Actively engages with the project team on important topics such as test issues and how to accomplish the team's goals.
• Collaborates with Mechanical Test Technicians and Mechanical Test Engineers to improve software testing and to resolve test issues.

Must have for this role: 

• 2+ years of software testing experience
• 2+ years of software automation development or software coding or scripting experience
• 2+ years’ experience documenting and tracking with Excel and Word.

Nice to have:

• Experience with scripting languages - Java Script, Python, or C++ preferred
• Experience with Jira, GIT, TestRail, Test Complete
• Experience with automated and manual software testing.
• Experience writing automation scripts preferred
• Windows and LINUX operating system experience. 
• Previous experience using 3D printers
• Experience with electro-mechanical systems
• Experience with web systems/technology
• Experience with security testing
• Experience with Jenkins or other CI/CD tools
