We are looking for a Sr. Manager of R&D Projects to lead medium to large complex new product development projects while following the Product Life Cycle Management process. The Sr. Manager of R&D Projects will lead teams of R&D engineers and technicians. The Sr. Manager of R&D has an opportunity to also mentor junior-level team members.



  • You’ll be accountable for all phases of product development per the Product Life Cycle Management (PLCM) process, including:
    • Project scope management
    • Project schedule and development
    • Tracking and reporting on technical execution and overall project status
    • Risk identification and mitigation plan development
    • Project cost estimating reporting
  • Working with functional matrix manager to create and manage a cross-functional product development team.
  • Direct and manage a team of system engineers, H/W engineers, and technicians (6-10).
  • Manage cross-functional product development teams to meet project deliverables per specifications, schedule, and whole product criteria; set priorities and resolve conflict among development functions.
  • You’ll ensure all team members have an ongoing understanding of program deliverables. 
  • Hold and ensure proper facilitation of cross-functional team, phase gate, program readiness and lessons learned meetings.
  • Provide pro-active communication of program tradeoffs and status to R&D, NPI, Customer Service, and Operations functional managers, stakeholders, and program sponsors.
  • Identify and manage external project resources as required.
  • Interface with external customers
  • Collaborate with assigned teams during technology phase investigations to gain a technical understanding of emerging technologies that will become the basis for new products.
  • You’ll be the functional manager of team members resolving staffing and resource needs; task responsibilities, accomplishment recognition, and teamwork feedback.
  • You’ll also be a functional manager of Systems Engineers and Lead Engineers in identifying product specifications, tradeoffs, and risks.



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering 
  • 8+ years of experience in an engineering/product development environment. (Master's degree with 4 years of experience).
  • 3+ years’ experience in the design, development, test, and manufacturing of multi-disciplinary systems.
  • 3+ years’ experience in project management or directing cross-functional teams required
  • 3+ years’ experience managing technical employees. Such as (Systems Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, or Electrical Engineers)



  • Project Management Certificate 
  • Demonstrated leadership, excellent communication, decision making, and interpersonal skills, with a strong emphasis on the skill and ability to effectively guide product development projects.
  • Excellent technical skills and systems understanding.
