Location: San Francisco & (Remote possibility with ability to be in the office when needed)


This role is responsible for electrical design, development, and continuation support for machine control electronics and firmware, typically under the supervision of a more senior engineer.  This includes hardware test plans, project estimating and planning, and scheduling.   All activity is primarily done within a team environment following an agreed upon process which includes peer reviews of all work output.



  • Completes design of digital and analog circuits, circuit boards and system cabling, typically with collaboration of other Engineers.
  • Creates design specifications, work estimates, test plans and provides schedule updates.
  • Lead continuing engineering needs by identifying replacement components, troubleshooting production issues, and participating in cost-reduction and reliability improvement efforts for electrical hardware.
  • Pro-actively informs stakeholders of status / information in a timely manner and in an appropriate fashion.
  • Lead design reviews, source control, documentation standards, etc.
  • Executes per Product Development Process (proposal, schedule, milestones, peer reviews, program reviews, system integration, testing, and product rollout support) when assigned to a product development team.
  • Furthers the work of teams by assuming joint responsibility with others and by effective communication and collaboration.
  • Participates actively in and seeks out various educational and training opportunities to maintain up-to-date technical expertise.



  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years’ experience
  • 2+ years’ experience taking designs to production
  • 2+ years working with different communication protocols, i.e. I2C, SPI, USB and able to use logic analyzers 



  • Experience with programmable logic devices and microprocessors
  • Experience with PCBA and/or design tools such as Altium designer
  • 3D printing experience
  • Experience in Linux environment
  • Experience with compliance testing
  • Ability to lead multiple projects
  • Possess the ability to work well in a team environment
  • Skilled in verbal and written communications
  • Ability to work well with others and suppliers
