We are looking for an NPI (New Product Introduction) and Testing groups Manager oversees all of the NPI activities as our products are successfully introduced into volume production and the various testing activities which are conducted prior to product launches, including Reliability tests, DVT (Design Verification Tests) and Alpha tests. Your responsibilities will include staffing and establishing technical skills, tools, and work processes among these groups. You will be directly managing 4-7 engineers and technicians.

 

Responsibilities:

 

New Product Introduction:

  • Full responsibility and accountability for all NPI activities of the Business Unit.
  • Ensure new products are manufacturable and meet production specifications as well as production and quality standards.
  • Ensure the production processes used for our products are efficient and meet cost and quality requirements.
  • Ensure product and process knowledge are well defined and transferred to production, including work done with suppliers and contract manufacturers.
  • Manage and mentor team in areas of engineering expertise and innovation, constantly moving the team towards. innovative processes and products as well as improvements in technical skills and system knowledge.
  • Define, qualify, and implement new manufacturing technologies as necessary for new product requirements.
  • Engage team members in cross-functional teams per the PLCM process. 
  • Actively communicate NPI status, risks, mitigation plans, and performance against requirements.

 

 Testing:

  • Full responsibility and accountability for all R&D test activities of our product platform.
  • Acquire, manage, train, and utilize correct development & test tools for staff members.
  • Identify, recommend, and drive product and productivity technology improvements, including awareness, tradeoff analysis, recommendations, and solutions for the short, mid, and long-term time frames. 

 

Overall:

  • Provide employee development, training, and employee reviews, while fostering good communication and teamwork.
  • Create and manage annual capital and expense budget for these groups.
  • Partner closely with Supply Chain, Program, and Product Management to ensure PLCM and product success.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Physics, engineering or related field 
  • 5+ years experience Engineering
  • 5+ years’ experience in Hardware NPI and/or Testing processes (preferable as a manager).
  • 3+ years experience in the design, development, test, and manufacture of electromechanical systems 
  • 3+ years experience with staff management, project leadership, and/or giving work direction to an Engineering team

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in 3D printing is a great advantage 
  • Demonstrated leadership, communications, decision making, and interpersonal skills, with a strong emphasis on the skill and ability to effectively guide product development projects.
  • The ability to effectively build a technical organization, motivate employees and work as a team to achieve innovative results.
  • The ability to anticipate the need for organizational flexibility and adaptability due to the complexity of technical projects and to help assigned personnel carry out their respective responsibilities accordingly.
