As a member of the Engineering group, the CPE Engineer is responsible for managing engineering processes for existing products in the market and in production. This role focuses on improving product quality, reliability, maintainability, and serviceability through design changes and technical support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement product design changes to enhance quality, reliability, maintainability, testability, and serviceability.
- Lead cost reduction initiatives through hardware redesigns.
- Design new jigs and fixtures for current products.
- Technical support 4th Tier Field and 2nd Tier Production Line including escalation management
- Manage End-of-Life (EOL) and second source activities.
- Manage design changes for contract manufacturing and full turn-key (DFX).
- Develop and conduct First Article Inspection (FAI) processes for new parts and assemblies.
- Act as a technical liaison between Operations, Customer Support, and R&D.
- Apply principles of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA), quality, and time-to-market (TTM).
- Manage configuration control, BOM components, part catalog, documentation, and engineering change orders (ECO).
- Ensure regulatory and materials compliance.
- Manage supplier resourcing and qualification.
Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
- BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering – mandatory; MSc in Mechanical or Systems Engineering – an advantage.
- Minimum 2 years of proven experience in mechanical design or R&D environment.
- Minimum 5 years of proven experience in mechanical or production engineering.
- Strong English communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships across multiple levels.
- Proven experience in multidisciplinary environments.
- Experience with manufacturing technologies such as plastic molding, Sheet metal, extrusion, casting – an advantage.
- Experience leading DFX processes.
- Proficiency in CAD software – SolidWorks preferred.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is essential.
- Experience with PDM/PLM tools – Agile preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills in multidisciplinary product environments.
- Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to take initiative.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changes.
- Excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills.
