Stratasys Direct Manufacturing is currently seeking an onsite Manufacturing Engineer for our Poway, CA facility.  In this role you will provide technical expertise in manufacturing processes, advanced materials and applications experience specifically in Urethane Casting and CNC Machining (plastics & metals) technologies.  You will get to consult with the project engineering team, sales and customers regarding our manufacturing capabilities and gap analyses.  This role would have you assessing risk and providing solutions on technical challenges from our customers.  You would develop, evaluate and improve the manufacturing method and work flow.  This would allow you to interface with multiple departments across the organization and provide data driven analysis on challenging manufacturing issues.


Examples of the tasks you would work on include:

  • Consult with project engineering, sales and customers regarding manufacturing capabilities
  • Assess risk and provide solutions to technical challenges from customers
    • Perform blueprint/drawing/contract review to allow proper planning and inspection
    • Identify third party solutions, where necessary, to meet customer requirements
  • Develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing methods and workflow
    • Create and maintain work instructions, process specification and control docs
    • Design tooling and fixtures and provide written instructions and training on their use
  • Provide engineering support/improvements through data driven analysis
    • Implement data collection & reporting tools and/or techniques
    • Define process baselines, process variations and control limits
    • Provide technical review for QC, non-conformances and CAPA’s
    • Drive continual process improvement efforts and LEAN initiatives
    • Develop efficiency metrics from physical process variables
  • Other tasks as required by the Manager of Process/Manufacturing Engineering
  • Foster strong collaboration between all departments within Operations

As a part of Stratasys Direct Manufacturing, this position requires access to information and/or technology controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).  The successful candidate must be a U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S. (or, green card holder), protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State. 



  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 5+ years combined experience in engineering and/or manufacturing operations with a working knowledge of design for manufacturing in CNC machining, injection molding and urethane casting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Strong relational skills both inter-personal and organizational.  Experience with cross cultural communication/collaboration
  • Experience designing parts in Solidworks, generating prints for parts, and/or reading prints with GD&T callouts per ASME Y14.5
  • Proficiency Microsoft Office suite including use of formulas and pivot tables in Excel
  • Structured problem solving skills, 6Sigma tools, fish-bone diagrams, 5 Whys, FMEA, SPC, etc..



  • Experience with PPAP packages, control plans and design of experiments
  • Experience in implementing Lean Manufacturing principles desired
  • Proficient with Python programming language
  • Some knowledge of Rapid Prototyping/Additive Manufacturing industry and technologies
