We are seeking a dynamic and self-propelling Application Development Engineer with a background in material science or equivalent. The ideal candidate should possess a strong curiosity, persistence, and a general affinity with technology. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying and developing applications for powder bed fusion. You will be working closely with Stratasys’s product, R&D and customer-facing teams.

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Conduct research to identify, investigate feasibility and develop new applications for powder bed fusion technology.
  • Responsible to develop technical know-how for strategic application fields and develop tools for successful application/product combinations
  • Translate customer & application requirements into winning solutions, comprising of existing powder material, printer, and software. Or, if needed, draw up product development specifications.
  • Lead technical discussions with material and hardware clients to understand their requirements.
  • Establish and maintain strong connections with internal product development and customer-facing teams.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to integrate materials into the product development process.
  • Support product roadmap with detailed feedback on existing technology gaps and future application opportunities.
  • Assess and initiate Intellectual Property opportunities with respect to application development.
  • Develop and advocate technical application knowledge (f.i. application datasheets, value propositions, training collateral) to enable profitable new business development.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Material Science or related field.
  • 3+ years’ experience in science or technology applied to polymers and applications thereof. Translating application requirements into material properties.
  • Technical expertise with commercial acumen is mandatory.
  • Excellent communication skills to lead technical discussions. Fluent communication in English.
  • Strong curiosity and self-propelling attitude towards technology.
  • Persistence in problem-solving and application development.

 

Nice to have

  • Experience with 3D printing
  • Expertise in specific vertical industries and/or markets.
  • Multi-lingual (German, French or Spanish)
  • Experienced with CAD software programs

 

Travel requirement:

  • Position is based out of Geleen, the Netherlands and allows for hybrid working (60% in office)
  • Travel is expected up to 15-20%
