The Production Supervisor role will be responsible for driving and meeting quality, on-time delivery, and margin targets to facilitate the department’s growth plan. The Production Supervisor is an exciting opportunity to supervise the production of 3D printed parts on FDM and PolyJet Technology. They will be responsible to manage current process and help implement new processes to manufacture 3D printed parts to meet production and quality objectives. Additional responsibilities to include all essential accountabilities and expected outcomes listed below.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Supervision of Staff

  • Supervise daily operations of the department.
  • Supervise day-to-day activities and provide input for performance reviews and disciplinary action with special regard to the following areas: fairness, attendance; accident or injury prevention; and turnover.
  • Understanding of all job-specific techniques and team-building skills to complete projects in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to instruct Finishers, Operators, AM Programmers in department-specific techniques.
  • Monitor and direct the workload balance of the department by prioritizing work based on delivery dates for internal and external customers to coordinate builds to maximize machine efficiency.  Work directly with scheduler, project manager, and project engineer to understand any bottlenecks and areas for improvement.

 

Knowledge of systems and processes and collaboration

  • Achieve department revenue, growth, and profitability goals.
  • Control cost by optimizing productivity, process improvements, and automation.
  • Work with Project Engineering and/or customers to discuss customer applications and requirements to be able to suggest and collaborate on build methods and build orientations for best results
  • Assist Project Engineering with quoting activities
  • Inspect and repair CAD or STL files as necessary through the use of SolidView, Magics, and SolidWorks.
  • Read and understand technical drawings and CAD files for assisting in part build validation.
  • Manage raw materials inventory and usage of machine utilization, build queue, and scrap rate.
  • Assist in research and development on FDM and PolyJet machine hardware and materials.

 

Quality/Compliance responsibility

  • Create and control best practices documentation to minimize scrap and to produce the highest quality parts.
  • Work with Quality and/or Project Engineering to review quotes and assess risk.
  • Optimize quality while maintaining on-time delivery and satisfying customer requirements.
  • Responsible for compliance to all applicable Quality Management Systems.
  • Assist in projecting headcount requirements for the department and manage staffing in accordance with departmental business plans.
  • Implementation of ISO 9001 and AS 9100 (as applicable) quality system and procedures.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4 year degree in engineering, manufacturing, or related field 
  • 4+  years experience with additive/conventional manufacturing operations.
  • 2+ years of experience managing process, projects, or people

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1+ years of experience managing production work
  • Previous experience in a leadership role as a lead or as part of a larger team project
  • Previous experience in scheduling/prioritization of work
  • Additive manufacturing experience
