The Sr. Quality Lab Technician is responsible for supporting manufacturing in achieving product conformity across the three stages of production (Incoming, in-process, and final) and quality assurance in operations. This will be accomplished by testing and inspecting products to ensure quality levels are met, monitoring production for adherence to company standards, executing containment activities, and supporting QA processes such as calibration management, non-conforming material and MRB, RCA and CAPA.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Complete mechanical, functional, visual inspection per product, process, R&D, and customer requirements
  • Initiate and close detailed inspection records of test results
  • Prepare reports, gathering and formatting data as needed
  • Interpret blueprints to determine gauge methods and judge the acceptability of the product
  • Initiates, investigate and quarantine activities as it relates to quality issues
  • Support root cause investigations, subsequent corrective action, and gathering and documenting verification data and objective evidence
  • Provide input into the final disposition of discrepant material
  • Monitor and evaluate the conformance of statistically controlled processes where applicable
  • Identify areas for quality control improvement and suggest or facilitate new methods
  • Communicating quality or compliance concerns with urgency to engineering, production and management
  • Work with engineers in conducting investigations and experiments
  • Responsible for working in compliance with all Quality Management Systems
  • Ensuring test equipment is calibrated and working correctly
  • May assist in developing methods and procedures for quality assurance and control
  • Generate, update and maintain documentation relating to quality and processes
  • Determine which measurement instrument to use in various situations based on considerations such as the characteristic to be measured, the required accuracy level, uncertainty, etc.
  • Internal audit of production on lines and systems
  • Corrective action management
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures
  • Attend all required company training

  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the department or manager

 

 Must have for this role:

  • Associate degree in manufacturing or computer sciences
  • 4-6 years inspection experience in a production environment
  • Strong working knowledge of various mathematical concepts including fractions, ratios, and proportions and with working in Excel spreadsheets
  • Demonstrated skills in task and priority management and successful communication and collaboration across roles and teams
  • Solid understanding of basic inspection equipment/ tools
  • Ability to interpret requirements from a drawing, specification, or work instruction
  • Experience with ERP transactions and functionality

 

Nice to have:

  • Certifications in Testing, Lean, and/or Auditing (ex. ASQ or six sigma)
  • Familiarity with inspection and data programming languages (PC-DMIS, SQL, Crystal reports, etc) and/or coordinate measuring operation such as Romer Arm, CMM, similar

 

Travel required: 10% domestic

For this position, the typical annual starting base salary is from $62,942 to $71,747, which does not include variable incentive pay. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. Your individual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, geographical location, and/or experiences.
