Sr. Electrical Technician

As a Sr. Electrical Technician you will work closely with the electrical team engineers, technicians, designers, as well as peer departments, to design and develop electrical circuits, cabling and test plans for machine control and power distribution. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures for electrical design and test work. 

 

Responsibilities:

Development and Assembly

  • Builds cables, electronics assemblies, and test fixtures in support of engineering development efforts.
  • Assembles, repairs, reworks, and trouble shoots: circuit card assemblies, electronics assemblies, system electrical distribution and communications.
  • Develops cable assembly drawings, system wiring diagrams, and electrical test plans for assigned projects, using CAD and other design tools.
  • Assists with the specification and setup of test procedures and fixtures for new components and assemblies to conduct functional, operational, and life tests for evaluating performance and reliability of prototype or production systems.

 

Documentation

  • Uses configuration management and/or lifecycle management tools to document the Bill of Material (BOM) for components and cable assemblies.
  • Assists with the writing and development of technical reports, charts, graphs, and schematics to describe electrical sub-system operating characteristics as necessary to support design development, marketing, operations, and service needs

 

On Demand

  • Develops and maintains a broad knowledge and understanding of the laboratory, shop, engineering, manufacturing, purchasing and vendor functions and interface relationships between and among such functions.
  • Assists and provides technical support as directed by supervisor and/or engineers for manufacturing assembly line and other departments within the company where needed.
  • Trains and mentors other technicians on technical skills and processes.
  • Other Responsibilities as assigned by the department or manager

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates Degree in Electronics or equivalent technical field
  • 2+ years of experience with electrical motors, controls and power management
  • 2+ years of experience with CAD or SolidWorks

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience using 3D printers.
  • Previous project work within school environment or work place
  • Previous experience with configuration management or product lifecycle management tools. (e.g. Agile PLCM)
