The Stratasys Summer Internship Program is designed to give interns a holistic view of what Stratasys has to offer from a multitude of departments. Our 12-week paid program begins in May and goes through mid-August. During the program each intern is embedded in real time projects, which they contribute to or even lead depending on their experience level.  Our Campus team helps to educate, train, and grow our interns through Monthly activity such as 3D printing trainings, Lunch & Learn seminars, and Coffee Talks with department leaders.  We also try hosting offsite team building activities to promote networking among the group through volunteer events.

 

In this role: We are seeking an Applications Engineer Intern to join the Manufacturing Solutions Business Unit (SBU). The Manufacturing SBU is dedicated to developing and delivering disruptive additive based manufacturing solutions to strategic vertical markets. The Applications Engineer Intern will support innovation, incubation, development, and demonstration of new Additive Manufacturing technology applications supporting manufacturing of composite structures. The Applications Engineer Intern will collaborate with multiple internal functional departments and with external suppliers and development partners to rapidly develop and demonstrate new concepts, materials and processing solutions that meet a broad range of customer application and technology requirements.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Assist in developing manufacturing plans
  • Assist in data analytics and design of experiments
  • Provide hands-on support for new product introduction projects
  • Work with management, project engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes
  • Assist with blueprint/drawing review to allow proper planning and inspection
  • Help design tooling and fixtures and provide written instructions and training on their use
  • Help with reviewing and analyzing MRB and NCR reporting
  • Write and maintain work instructions, BOMs, process specifications and reports
  • Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods and work areas
  • Provide basic expertise on moving mechanisms, static mechanical elements, and materials properties, capabilities and limitations
  • Help develop and maintain mechanical assembly testing procedures

 

  Must have for this role: 

  • Working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • Two years of higher education must be completed - (Entering Junior or Senior year education as of Spring 2025)
  • Completed Coursework with Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing and product manufacturing processes
  • Completed coursework using CAD and SPC software
  • Local to Minnesota or able to relocate without assistance to the Minnetonka, MN area

 

Nice to have:

  • 3D Printing experience highly desired
  • Preferred Major(s): Mechanical Engineer, Aerospace Engineer, Materials Engineer, Industrial engineering
