The Commodity Manager - Direct will be responsible for supplier sourcing to provide materials and components for company product manufacturing. The Commodity Manager communicates product specifications to suppliers and assesses the supplier’s ability to meet engineering and quality requirements.  

 

What you will be doing:

  • Evaluates suppliers’ internal functions to assess their overall performance and provides feedback in assessment of their operation.
  • Reviews and analyzes purchase requisitions.
  • Will recommend cost saving proposals including make-versus-buy analysis or alternative sourcing.
  • Works with team to address assigned areas of commodity management, including procurement support, commodity business plans, market trends assessment, pricing, and product availability.
  • Monitors the cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to negotiate highest quality at best value.
  • Monitor market conditions and trends, technology roadmaps, and identify supply & demand challenges
  • Monitors parts from acquisition through the manufacturing cycle and communicates and resolves supplier-related problems as they occur.
  • Processes purchase requisitions, purchase change orders and requests for quotes to suppliers.
  • Responsible for procurement business system data input and integrity; maintains parts/commodities numbers in supply chain management or other enterprise wide systems.
  • Performs cost analysis and volume planning for major commodities (e.g., materials, components, equipment and services).
  • Provide quote analysis and gathering delivery and quality data in support of the supplier selection process.
  • Setting up parts within Oracle Purchasing to sures price, lead time and correct fields.
  • Create PO for sample parts and/or parts in support of the design verification build.

Must have for this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain, finance, or other related field
  • 3+ years of sourcing, purchasing or planning experience at a manufacturing company in an ERP environment
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot table ability preferred) and ability to operate efficiently in other MS Office Products such as PowerPoint and Word

 

Nice to Have:

  • Oracle experience
  • Ability to perform quote analysis for direct comparison and identify areas of follow-up
  • Working knowledge of Project Management software
  • Familiar with basic technical aspects of sourcing sheet metal, cables, and machined components

 

Travel required: 10% domestic
