In October 2021 Stratasys completed the acquisition of Xaar 3D in Nottingham and Copenhagen. The team in Copenhagen is part of the global 3D giant Stratasys and responsible for a brand-new series of 3D printers with the ambition of moving 3D print from prototyping into production. You will play a key role in the team, developing a high-speed 3D printer based on world-leading piezoelectric drop-on-demand inkjet technologies.


You will be involved in the mechanical construction of 3D printers, optimizing, making the 3D printers robust and making the design ready for manufacturing and service, as well as developing tools and features to assist other teams like R&D and customer support. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for, and drive, the mechanical development of Stratasys Copenhagen 3D printers, including the overall machine/printer design as well as for complex modules of the machine.


The role will also:

  • Design mechanical and electromechanical systems and work closely with the software architects to find smart reliable and low-cost solutions to complex problems
  • Challenge existing solutions and identify innovative designs
  • As a CAD super user independently create drawings and manage revision control
  • When needed design test protocols and complete validation reports
  • Participate in customer meetings to understand and integrate customer requirements in designs
  • Lead customer training sessions
  • Drive and challenge suppliers and subcontractors to deliver target quality parts on time.
  • Compliance with various security standards
  • Daily, you will work closely with software and hardware engineers in Stratasys Copenhagen to design a reliable machine and a seamless user experience

Responsibilities and duties:

  • Producing details of specifications and outline designs
  • Developing, testing and evaluating theoretical designs
  • Developing project specifications with colleagues, often including those from other engineering disciplines
  • Discussing and solving complex problems with manufacturing departments, sub-contractors, suppliers and customers
  • Making sure a product can be made reliably and will perform consistently in specified operating environments
  • Planning and designing production processes
  • Recommending modifications following prototype test results
  • Producing low-cost designs and solutions in order to meet cost targets
  • Participate in freedom to operate analysis and patent filing processes


Qualifications and Experience:

•    BSc or MSc mechanical engineering and a minimum of 5 years work experience
•    CAD super user
•    Design and development of products involving precision custom mechanical components and the integration of electronics and/or fluidics 
•    Completion of at least one complete product development cycle, from concept through full design and development to successful market introduction and customer support
•    Manufacturing methods for both rapid prototyping and mass production
•    Experience with DFM, DFA, DFS, DFX


•    Experience with 3D printing development
•    Electronics design competencies

Working as part of an international company, you will need to be fluent in written and spoken technical English.
