MakerBot is looking for a UI/UX Designer to join the product team in Brooklyn, NY. You will be working across all of MakerBot’s 3D printing products to design and shape our user experience, including our digital products MakerBot CloudPrint, Thingiverse, onboard printer interfaces, and more. You will be the advocate for the user within the product team and lead the design of our user experience based on user research and workflow analysis. We’re looking for candidates who are passionate about design, thrive on tackling complex technical challenges, and eager to venture into uncharted design territory to shape the future of 3D printing.


In addition to these core competencies, we are looking for someone who enjoys learning new skills and working with the rest of the design team in defining + developing a unified design and brand across hardware, software, packaging, website, and marketing content.



  • Conduct user and competitor research, workflow analysis, and usability testing
  • Design user experiences for new products and improve existing ones
  • Create wireframes, storyboards, and user flows
  • Build user interface mockups and prototypes
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of Designers, Engineers, and Product Managers throughout the design process

Design Team Skill Set

  • Experience designing across multiple platforms.
  • Portfolio showcasing multiple projects that demonstrates designing usable digital interfaces, and relevant user flows.
  • Ability to lead and ideate products from scratch and improve features, all with a user-centered design process.
  • An expert in Sketch or Figma and Adobe creative suite. 
  • Experience in data driven design; gathering and evaluating user requirements in collaboration with product managers and engineers. 

Basic Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of relevant industry experience (accepting mid-level and senior candidates)
  • Software Skills: Sketch or Figma, Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop, Google Docs/Sheets/Slides or Microsoft Office, and InVision.


Nice to Haves

  • Experience with 3D printing, modeling, or CAD design.
  • A degree in Design, HCI, CS, or a related field.
  • Skills in communicating and influencing product design strategy.
  • Experience working with IoT ecosystems. 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and familiarity with technical constraints and limitations as they apply to designing for platforms such as desktop and mobile (i.e. Android and iOS).
  • Bonus Software Skills: CAD (Solidworks, Rhino, Alias, etc), Adobe Premiere / Flash / After Effects, Keyshot, Programming
