The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for managing and coordinating the movement of goods in and out of the facility. Their key duties include receiving and inspecting incoming shipments, verifying the accuracy of orders, and preparing outgoing shipments according to established procedures. They also collaborate with other departments to resolve any shipping or receiving discrepancies and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

 

In this role: you are responsible for overseeing shipping operations, addressing complex shipping issue, managing department workflow, and assisting with employee training.

 

What you will be doing:

Shipping

• Check orders and package to SDM and/or Customer specifications.

• Review work instructions for special packaging needs.

• Package orders in compliance to best shipping practices and customer requirements

• Verify correctness of shipments against bills of lading, invoices.

• Ensure products are packaged and shipped correctly and in a timely manner from our

facility to the customer.

• Proficiency in both domestic and international shipping regulations.

• Implementation of hazardous material requirements including correct labeling.

• Manage and Maintain inventory integrity through consistent use of procedures.

• Submit purchasing requests for shipping supplies.

• Process shipping labels using appropriate vendor software such as FedEx, UPS, Starship,

etc.

• Manage workflow in the shipping area, ensuring shipments are completed in a timely

manner according to customer requirements.

• Mentor and train employees in the shipping area.

• Work with other departments to resolve issues related to shipping.

• Responsible for compliance to all Quality Management Systems.

• Support and lead area focused continuous process improvement activities

 

Receiving

• Load and unload trucks and move materials within the warehouse.

• Receive orders and material and deliver to appropriate departments.

• Verify received products to bills of lading and purchase order documentation requirements

• Maintain inventory integrity through consistent use of procedures; keep records of goods

received.

• Ensure materials are properly labeled including hazardous material labels.

• Resolve issues in receiving, working with other departments to identify and resolve.

• Mentor and train employees in the receiving area.

• Report damaged goods and shortages.

 

Other

• Follow all company safety policies and procedures

• Attend all required company training

• Other Responsibilities as assigned by the department or manager

 

Must have for this role:

• Minimum one year experience in shipping and receiving.

• Working knowledge FedEx, UPS computers.

• Job requires reading, math, computer, and good communication skills.

• Ability to operate pallet jacks.

• Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
