What We Need

Our Stereolithography development and production site in Aylesbury is seeking a Summer Intern to join the Application Engineering team.

Application Engineers act as the bridge between the technology and its real-world use. In this role, you’ll support the team with research and testing enabling us to push the limits of both our hardware and materials. You’ll gain hands-on experience working on real engineering challenges in a collaborative environment.

Employment Details

  • Position Type: Student Internship
  • Duration: ~3 months (flexible start/end dates)
  • Working Hours: 37.5 hours/week (Monday–Friday, 9:00–17:00, negotiable)

Responsibilities & Tasks

You will support team projects and/or may take ownership of individual projects. Typical activities may include:

  • Testing and investigating how resins behave during and post printing (curing, shrinkage, viscosity)
  • Matching materials to applications (e.g., dental, automotive, medical devices)
  • Identify industries where SLA resins can replace traditional materials
  • Support 3D print workflows development and validation (design → print → post-process → use)
  • Test printed parts performance against traditional mfg technics (i.e vs injection molding or machining)
  • Thermal and chemical resistance testing

 

This role offers variety, and you may be asked to support additional tasks as needed.

About You

  • Currently studying an undergraduate degree in design, engineering or related discipline.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Curious, proactive, and eager to learn
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving
  • Comfortable working with solvents & chemicals in a safe and manageable environment
  • Organised and methodical in your work

Desirable Interests or Hobbies:

  • 3D printing
  • Personal STEM projects

These two are a bit much for a student. We need to focus on execution of known activities i.e “analyze technical customer needs”
