Stratasys Direct Manufacturing (SDM) is hiring a Lead Metrologist with experience in product quality control, continuous improvement, and compliance, and quality assurance. If you have extensive knowledge with inspection, GD&T and Quality Assurance, as well as a passion for customer service and new technologies, this is the job for you! You will have opportunities to contribute to our overall revenue, and will have exposure to a wide array of technologies including 3D printing, additive manufacturing, and traditional manufacturing technologies.   


As a part of Stratasys Direct Manufacturing, this position requires access to information and/or technology controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).  The successful candidate must be a U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S. (or, green card holder), protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.   


This Lead Metrologist will direct and manage all SDM activities relating to quality, continuous improvement, and compliance for assigned site of Stratasys Direct Manufacturing.


  • Responsible for leadership, guidance, professional support, training and annual reviews of 1-3 employees
  • Will be hands-on with GD&T, inspection techniques, testing of parts, and calibration of tools
  • Responsible for the operation of various metrology instruments including but not limited to Zeiss CMM
  • Will create inspection programs/reports using Zeiss Calypso software
  • Performs first article inspection
  • Develops and updates customer/part specific Quality Work Instructions for receiving, in-process, and final inspections
  • Oversees Material Review Board activities, assures timely and accurate disposition of product (i.e. in-coming raw material, WIP, and customer returns) by collaborating with manufacturing and customer service teams
  • Collaborates with the Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, and Project Engineering to implement process improvements to drive/implement systemic improvements
  • Interface with customers and supplier manufacturing to establish customer requirements and review customer contracts, specifications and drawings for acceptance and negotiate changes as needed



  • Four-year technical degree or equivalent experience required
  • 10+ Metrology experience 
  • Computer proficiency SPC software
  • Comprehensive understanding GD&T
  • Comprehensive understanding of Zeiss CMM using Calypso software
  • 5 years of experience in quality preferably ISO 9001 and AS9100  



  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO9001 / AS9100)
  • Prior experience in a lead or manager role
