Lead Metrologist - Stratasys Direct - Austin, TX

The Lead Metrologist is responsible for directing and leading all Stratasys Direct Manufacturing (SDM) quality control activities relating to inspection, contract review, control of nonconforming, continuous improvement, and compliance for the site. Will use extensive knowledge of GD&T principles in accordance with ASME Y14.5 and a strong foundation of mechanical inspection along with CMM or Metrology Arm programming experience.

 

  • Product Inspection - Oversee QC inspection queue including scheduling and prioritization, perform in-process/final inspections using a variety of inspection tools, generate inspection reports,  program and operate Zeiss CMM using Calypso, and program and operate FARO Arm using Polyworks
  • Contract Review - Review blueprints/drawings for GD&T and quality requirements then quote inspection lead times
  • Material Review Board (MRB) - Initiate Non-conformance Reports (NCR) and quarantine parts in MRB acting as liaison between MFG/PEs and manage site NCRs for completeness and proper approvals prior to closing
  • Training - Responsible for guidance, professional support, and training for quality control initiatives

 

As a part of Stratasys Direct Manufacturing, this position requires access to information and/or technology controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).  The successful candidate must be a U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S. (or, green card holder), protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • High School Diploma with equivalent experience or Associates' Degree
  • GD&T Course Completion ASME Y14.5 with GD&T applied experience
  • Experience of mechanical inspection and gauging using tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.              
  • 3 years inspection experience utilizing CMM or Metrology Arm (FARO, Nikon, etc.)
  • Calypso Advanced Training Certification or Polyworks Certification  
  • Must have calibration experience
  • Experience with traceability (product, material and calibration)
  • Must have experience of basic mathematical operations and perform measurement conversions; be able to solve for x; add and subtract degrees, minutes, and seconds

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience of ISO9001 or AS9100 Quality Management Systems
  • SQ CQI (Certified Quality Inspector) Certification

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENT: Will travel 10% (regional and domestic)
