The Stratasys Summer Internship Program is designed to give interns a holistic view of what Stratasys has to offer from a multitude of departments. Our 12-week paid program begins in May and goes through mid-August. During the program, interns are embedded in real-time projects, which they contribute to or even lead depending on their experience level.  Our campus team helps to educate, train, and grow our interns through monthly activities such as 3D printing training, lunch & learn seminars, and coffee talks with department leaders.  We also host off-site team-building activities to promote networking among the group through volunteer events.

 

The Materials Application Engineer Intern will support innovation, incubation, development, and demonstration of polymer applications in Additive Manufacturing technology.  The Intern will collaborate with multiple internal functional departments and with external suppliers and development partners to rapidly develop and demonstrate new concepts, materials and processing solutions that meet a broad range of customer application and technology requirements.  In this exceptional hands-on program, you will learn how a fast-paced product team operates and the dynamics of a professional engineering working environment.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Candidate will be exposed to a variety of engineering topics including, but not limited to, additive manufacturing technologies, material development and evaluation, testing standards, and post processing work-flows
  • Solution development and evaluation for manufacturing aids and end use part applications
  • Ability to learn and experience many technical subjects from CAD modeling, design evaluation, prototype fabrication, material characterization testing, and more
  • Complete and present on a technical project at the end of the internship program

 

Must have for this role: 

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor degree program or equivalent program at the University level
  • Entering Junior year education of school (two years of higher education must be completed)
  • Currently pursuing a degree in engineering or a related field
  • Experience in lab setting with responsibilities including material sample preparation, testing and data collection and analysis
  • Ability to independently approach a project and deliver with minimal guidance
  • Proficient CAD experience 
  • Familiar with MS Office applications 
  • Local to Minnesota or able to relocate without assistance to the Minnetonka, MN area

 

Nice to have:

  • 3D printing experience highly desired
  • Preferred Major(s): Mechanical, Material Science, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering
