The Stratasys Summer Internship Program is designed to give interns a holistic view of what Stratasys has to offer from a multitude of departments. Our 12-week paid program begins in May and goes through mid-August. During the program, interns are embedded in real-time projects, which they contribute to or even lead depending on their experience level. Our campus team helps to educate, train, and grow our interns through monthly activities such as 3D printing training, lunch & learn seminars, and coffee talks with department leaders. We also host off-site team-building activities to promote networking among the group through volunteer events.
We are looking for a talented and motivated Applications Engineering Intern to join our Industrial Business Unit (IBU), a team committed to creating and delivering groundbreaking additive manufacturing solutions for strategic vertical markets.
In this role, you will be at the forefront of innovation and technology development, contributing to the incubation, prototyping, and demonstration of next-generation additive manufacturing applications. You will work closely with cross-functional internal teams, customers, and development partners to develop and refine new features, materials, and processes that address a diverse range of customer needs and technical challenges.

What you will be doing:
- Assist in designing sample parts for new product introductions (NPIs)
- Conduct hands-on printing of parts for various uses including testing, design iteration, marketing content, and sales demonstrations
- Characterize product performance across accuracy, precision, reliability, throughput, and mechanical properties metrics
- Conduct mechanical properties testing and analyze the results
- Troubleshoot mechanical and software issues on 3D printers
- Document observations and issues for product improvement
- Help author best practices guides for the use of novel 3D printing procedures and technologies
- Generate CAD for creative parts to showcase new product capabilities
Must have for this role:
- Working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- Two years of higher education must be completed - (Entering Junior or Senior year of college as of Fall 2025)
- Basic understanding of manufacturing and product manufacturing processes
- Local to Minnesota or able to relocate without assistance to the Minnetonka, MN area
Nice to have:
- Completed coursework using CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
- 3D Printing experience highly desired
- Preferred Major(s): Mechanical Engineer, Aerospace Engineer, Materials Engineer
