We are looking for a Senior Research Engineer responsible for the design and execution of experiments with the goal of furthering the core technology of the Origin P3 platform. This role will tackle advanced technical projects alongside a team of research personnel with complex interdependencies across several disciplines to advance Origin’s best in class material processing and production capabilities.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Characterize and model physical mechanisms of processing photopolymers under a broad variety of conditions
  • Lead assigned projects and deliver results consistently in a professional and timely manner
  • Take part in the ideation, design, and evaluation of advanced subsystems, process models, algorithms, and future product development
  • Document and maintain internal knowledge base of test results and process understanding critical to P3 technology in a concise and accessible format
  • Analyze large and complex datasets in the context of concrete objectives and deliverables
  • Operate advanced metrology and additive manufacturing equipment
  • Contribute in complex and fast paced troubleshooting / root cause analysis exercises
  • Derive, document, and present specifications to cross-functional teams based on quantitative experimental results
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures

Must have for this role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Physics, Materials Science, Materials Engineering, or Chemical Engineering
  • 5+ years of industry experience, (2 of which should include development or characterization of photopolymers)
  • 2+ years of experience in the field of materials science or research
  • 2+ years of experience working with manufacturing technologies
  • Strong team player and communicator

 

Nice to have:

  • Master’s degree in Physics, Materials Science, Materials Engineering, or Chemical Engineering
  • Demonstrated Communications, decision making and interpersonal skills, with a strong emphasis on the skill and ability to lead or take part in cross-functional technical projects
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis tools such as Python, R, and SQL
  • Prior experience in the operation of additive manufacturing equipment in an advanced research environment
  • Prior experience in the processing and formulation of photopolymers

 

Travel required: <10% of time
