The Stratasys Summer Internship Program is designed to give interns a holistic view of what Stratasys has to offer from a multitude of departments. Our 12-week paid program begins in May and goes through mid-August. During the program each intern is embedded in real time projects, which they contribute to or even lead depending on their experience level. Our Campus team helps to educate, train, and grow our interns through Monthly activity such as 3D printing trainings, Lunch & Learn seminars, and Coffee Talks with department leaders. We also try hosting offsite team building activities to promote networking among the group through volunteer events.
In this role: The Print Quality Engineer Intern will support print quality engineers on new product printing, data collection, basic analysis and part quality improvement. This exceptional hands-on program will focus on different areas that you will gain experience within an additive manufacturing company, utilizing skills in solid modeling, insight, and project management. You'll learn the basics of operating and evaluating performance of FDM 3D printers. The Intern will also develop an understanding of material and system interactions in Additive Manufacturing Systems. Interns will be joining a product development team dedicated to creating innovative solutions with a passion for learning. Interns should be prepared to assist the company as a driven, efficient, and collaborative engineer while working on Planned Projects and Learning Objectives. You will gain knowledge of 3D printing system design, development, tuning, testing, and fundamental FDM Print Quality theory and practice.
What you will be doing:
- Support parts printing and part quality improvement for new product development projects
- Collect and present printing data from multiple machines
- Perform basic data analysis to help improve printer performance
- Troubleshoot and resolve basic printing issues
- Operate FDM equipment for part quality evaluation and improvement
- Report the identified HW/SW issues during printing to PQ team lead or project manager
- Ad hoc duties to be assigned
Must have for this role:
- Working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or a related field
- Two years of higher education must be completed - (Entering Junior or Senior year education as of Spring 2025)
- Understanding of the following:
- Engineering design
- Data analysis
- Basic SW programming
- Troubleshooting, and testing execution
- Ability to independently organize and prioritize multiple duties required
- Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to resolve technical issues while maintaining a good working relationship with the sales force, customers and internal employees is required
- Must be self-motivated, and be able to work effectively on projects with minimal direct supervision
- Local to Minnesota or able to relocate without assistance to the Minnetonka, MN area
Nice to have:
- 3D Printing experience highly desired
- Preferred Major(s): Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Engineering
