The Stratasys Summer Internship Program is designed to give interns a holistic view of what Stratasys has to offer from a multitude of departments. Our 12-week paid program begins in May and goes through mid-August. During the program, interns are embedded in real-time projects, which they contribute to or even lead depending on their experience level.  Our campus team helps to educate, train, and grow our interns through monthly activities such as 3D printing training, lunch & learn seminars, and coffee talks with department leaders.  We also host off-site team-building activities to promote networking among the group through volunteer events.

 

The Engineering Technician (Machinist) Internship - is designed to prepare you for a full-time role within Stratasys. In this exceptional hands-on program, you will learn how a fast-paced prototype shop operates, the dynamics of a professional engineering working environment, and the role a machinist plays in helping the engineering teams create their products. This program will also touch on many technical subjects from Manual/CNC machining to laser welding and sheet metal fabrication, in a non-production based environment. You'll be exposed to the vast scope of Stratasys, where you’ll be able to complete at least one impactful project.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Assist model shop Manager/personnel in the fabrication and limited production of prototype parts used by the R&D engineering project teams
  • Operation of CNC Mill, CNC Lathe, Manual Mill, and/or Manual Lathe
  • Inspection of completed parts
  • Maintenance of machinery equipment
  • Keep a clean and organized work area

 Must have for this role: 

  • Enrolled in a Machine Tool Technology program or experience working as a machinist
  • Mechanical and Technical capacity
  • Experience operating a variety of machine shop tools, including lathes, milling machines, water jets, lasers, press brakes, and welders
  • Ability to read drawings
  • Comply with all safety requirements of a machine shop
  • SolidWorks CAD knowledge required
  • Ability to lift material weighing upwards of 40 lbs.
  • Local to Minnesota or able to relocate without assistance to the Minnetonka, MN area 

Nice to have:

  • 3D Printing experience highly desired

Preferred Major(s): Mechanical Design and Drafting, Mechanical Engineering, Machine Tool Technology

 

Travel Requirements: Between MN Stratasys sites
